6.2 Relationship between economics and sociology

The link between sociology and economics: Economic status is actually determined by social status, and political attitudes are basically determined by economic status. That is to say, the most essential thing of class is social division of labor, which is to assume the main role in social collaborative production. Society is a collection of individuals composed of multiple groups to complete all the collaborative tasks needed for the survival and development of individuals in the society. A class is a group of people of the same or similar social status....

6.1 The functions of religion to society

Religion plays a role in stabilizing social order. Maintaining social stability is the eternal premise of the whole historical process in the primary stage of socialism. In this respect, religion, a social force, can play its unique social role. In the process of the transformation of today's society and the establishment of the socialist market economic system, the social competition is fierce, and people's thoughts are active, emotions are unstable, and impetuous emotions and social instability caused by restlessness, greed, jealousy, annoyance, disappointment, resentment,...

5.2 Religion

 1. In the early stage of human society, religion constructed the "non-consanguineous consciousness identification" in human society and promoted the transformation of human socialization. In the primitive society, human beings had many beliefs until the clan society, and religion appeared as a companion organism of the clan society with blood ties as the natural bond. For the religion of this period, Durkeim's view is generally accepted now, that is, totem is the primitive religious form of clan society, which strengthens the social identity of social members within the clan to each other. With the integration of different clans and tribes, the common belief of the same totem makes human beings shift from consanguineous identity to non-consanguineous identity, which is the beginning and prototype of human social and cultural identity. (Example: The integration of Yan and Huang Tribes and the evolution of Dragon Totem) 2. As an ancient ideology, religion played a decisive...

The role of sociology

Sociology provides scientific social knowledge, promotes individual social development, helps people formulate correct social policies, serves the reform of social society, and finally promotes the benign operation and coordinated development of society. It enables us to make use of the basic knowledge of sociology to analyze and solve the problems around us more scientifically, so as to better adapt to the development and progress of social association. The theories and methods of sociology can help people correctly understand their own status in the society and their role in the society, establish correct values, so as to enable people to think about problems, understand others, and coordinate the relationship between individuals and the society. Sociology enables people to explore the whole social world from different perspectives and positions, so that we can think more comprehensively.

The development of the sociology

The early way of theoretical research brought out by Comte is to imitate the method of studying natural sciences and apply the same method to explore social phenomena. It emphasizes the solid foundation of sociology based on experience, demonstration and scientific method. This methodology is called positivism. In the early 19th century, the positivism and naturalism approach to the study of social life was questioned by German neo-Comte philosophers such as Dilthey and Heinrich Ricker. They believe that the natural world is different from the social world, and that human society has unique categories such as meaning, symbols, rules, morals and values. These elements give rise to human culture. Later, Max Weber developed "Interpretive Sociology" based on this viewpoint, emphasizing that the object of sociology research is the subjective meaning of human behavior. It is closely related to anti-naturalism, which makes sociological studies particularly concerned with human and ...

2.2 The nature of sociology

Comte not only thinks sociology is a science, but also the first science, is the "queen of science". Comte regarded sociology as "social physics", indicating that he believed it was entirely possible to establish a "natural science of society".    In his view, the scientific nature of sociology is as scientific and accurate as the natural science. American sociologist J.H. Turner believed that sociological research should be an objective and value-neutral scientific activity like natural science. Scholars who hold this unified view of science believe that if sociology is to become a science, it must start from the empirical facts in social research, all theories, propositions and concepts must be able to withstand the test of facts, and in the process of research, facts and values must be distinguished, so that sociology becomes more mature and closer to the exact science of natural science.    Under the guidance of this understanding, the universality o...

2.1 What is the sociology?

Sociology is a social science which systematically studies social behavior and human group. It originated in 1830s and 1940s, and it is a modern subject which evolved from social philosophy. Sociology is a subject with multiple research methods, mainly involving the quantitative method of scientism positivism and the understanding method of humanism. They are opposite to each other and related to each other, so as to develop and perfect a set of knowledge system about human social structure and activities, and use these knowledge to seek or improve social welfare as the main goal.
