5.2 Religion

 1. In the early stage of human society, religion constructed the "non-consanguineous consciousness identification" in human society and promoted the transformation of human socialization. In the primitive society, human beings had many beliefs until the clan society, and religion appeared as a companion organism of the clan society with blood ties as the natural bond. For the religion of this period, Durkeim's view is generally accepted now, that is, totem is the primitive religious form of clan society, which strengthens the social identity of social members within the clan to each other. With the integration of different clans and tribes, the common belief of the same totem makes human beings shift from consanguineous identity to non-consanguineous identity, which is the beginning and prototype of human social and cultural identity. As an ancient ideology, religion played a decisive role in the formation of other ideologies, and directly promoted the formation of moral and ethical, philosophy, literature and art and other ideologies, and indirectly influenced law, politics and science. Religion is a social and cultural phenomenon in which concrete symbols are worshiped and abstract thoughts, abstract or concrete feelings, concrete behaviors, and concrete organizational systems are generated. Morality and ethics, philosophy, literature and art were born out of religion, developed in religion, restricted in religion, and finally broke away from religion in a long historical period. This "historical period" is too long. For example, in our art history, no matter in the East or the West, the influence of religion cannot be avoided. If we abandon religion, the whole front of art history will almost disappear.

3. The role that religion plays in modern society depends on the adaptability of each specific social form and religion. In Arab countries, religion is highly compatible with politics and law and occupies a dominant position. In Western countries, religion plays the traditional faith relationship between believers and gods, but no longer involves other fields.
